Other Tidbits From This Week

Thursday, the day of the VAC election (see previous post) I also elected to take my Language Proficiency Interview, taking it a day earlier than scheduled. I pulled an all-nighter with a insulated carafe full of instant coffee and box of cookies and gave myself a boost in my language skills. Today I was informed that I jumped two levels since my mock interview and achieved a passing score, meaning I am now exempt from further language tests.

Also today we wished our home-stay families goodbye in a luncheon. I served as master of ceremonies alongside another volunteer. It was a nice event that allowed us to thank the families that invited us into their homes during training. There were several speeches delivered by volunteers, staff, families, and the local community. Each language group we have made a presentation of their choosing. I expect pictures of me dancing in a traditional Bugandan grass skirt to surface on the internet in the next few days.

Now packing up at my home-stay.
