The rainy season has begun. It is a good thing for my village, not a great thing for me. The soil here is best described as a silty clay, and when it is wet it is an very sticky and often deep mud. Trying to run within a day of a heavy rain is mostly pointless. I don't even particularly like leaving my house while it is raining or shortly afterwards.
I received two great care packages in the past few weeks. This has not helped motivate me to leave the house. I've been away several weekends in a row now and had to do some weekday travel, but while I have been in the village I have been living off my care packages and the occasional rolex.
This is all a bad combination as I'm headed home in May. I was hoping to be headed in good shape. That is far less likely to happen now.
The care packages were filled with wonderful junk food and sauce packets. Duct tape reinforcement helped save a lot of the sauce packets, but unfortunately the shape of the Zax Sauce containers just isn't a good structural form. I guess duct tape has its limitations.
Also an annoying feature of the rainy season... what I like to call second rinse...
